Is This Right For Your Child?

We suggest considering these questions to help determine if our program is right for your child:

  1. Does your child want to take music lessons? Yes/No
  2. Do you and your child realize this is a school at which they will study and learn. It isn't just a place to jam. Yes/No
  3. Does your child like rock music? Yes/No
  4. Can you accept listening to them practice rock music at home? Yes/No
  5. Does your child want to perform? Yes/No
  6. Does your child want to play in a band (versus by themselves)? Yes/No
  7. Does your child love music enough to want to spend 4 hours a week/2 days a week involved in music + practice at home? Yes/No
  8. Is your child going to practice at home? Yes/No
  9. Does your child have transportation to get to the school? Yes/No
  10. Does your child have an instrument to practice with at home? Yes/No
  11. If your child is involved in other programs, can they balance those activities with the music commitment? Yes/No
  12. Do you want your child to interact with other youth rock musicians? Yes/No
  13. Are the students the kind of kids your child wants to be around? Yes/No
  14. Are you and your child willing to accept our ZERO tolerance policy for tobacco, drugs and alcohol? Yes/No
  15. Is your child able to accept that they will play with students of all ages? Yes/No
  16. Does your child WANT to go to the School of Rock? Yes/No

Tally: Please add up the number of "yes" answers. If you answered "yes" to:

  • 12 or more, then School of Rock is definitely for your child.
  • 9 - 12 questions, we suggest you talk about your "no" answers with a representative of the school before making your decision.
  • less than 9, School of Rock probably isn't for your child.
